“Want to hear from an impressive panel of role models on how they got where they are today?”
And how you could get there, too? And would you like to hear the views of a leading light of the UK and Europe’s black community? Our Women’s Network and Ethnic Minority Network have teamed up for a joint live panel event: Pledge for Parity.
Entrepreneur and author Dr Yvonne Thompson is key speaker. Yvonne has notched up a number of “firsts”. She’s founder and director of the UK’s first black music radio station, Choice FM. And founder of the first black-owned PR company. She set up the Black Consumer Survey. It’s the first in-depth lifestyle research of the UK’s black community. She also started the UK’s first black women’s business network, the European Federation of Black Women Business Owners. The Queen awarded Yvonne a CBE in 2003 for her services to women, small business and minorities.
Yvonne’s talk will be followed by a Q&A session with five women who’ve reached the top in their respective fields. They are our own Alison Wilcox, BT Group HR director; Lisa Ashworth of PR Newswire, June O’Sullivan of London Early Years, Catherine Possamai of Capita, and Lieutenant Colonel Lucy Giles, the first female college commander at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. They’ll share their stories and answer your questions on key equality themes, both in and out of work.
