Join First 100 Years for our flagship event, the SPARK21 conference, on 8th November 2017. We are honoured to host Lord Neuberger as our keynote speaker.
This one-day conference is being hosted by Simmons & Simmons with a series of panel debates chaired by Dame Jenni Murray.
Dame Jenni, who has presented Woman’s Hour since 1987, received an OBE in 1999 for services to radio broadcasting, and was made a Dame Commander of the British Empire in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2011. A feminist with an unabashed approach to seemingly difficult topics, Dame Jenni is a published author and patron of several charities including the Breast Cancer Campaign and Family Planning Association.
Lord Neuberger was appointed President of the Supreme Court in 2012 and recently retired from the position, and succeeded by Lady Hale. Lord Neuberger was educated at Westminster School and studied Chemistry at Christ Church, Oxford. After graduating, he worked in merchant banking until he was called to the Bar in 1974. Lord Neuberger was made a Queen’s Counsel in 1987 and became a Bencher for Lincoln’s Inn in 1993. His first judicial appointment was as a Recorder from 1990 until 1996, when he was appointed a High Court judge in the Chancery Division. He was then a Supervisory Chancery Judge from 2000 – 2004. In January 2004 he was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal. In 2007 he was made a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary and created a life peer as Baron Neuberger of Abbotsbury.
Tickets include coffees, lunch and nibbles throughout the day – as well as access to the full day of panel discussions and interviews.
