Join women’s cancer research charity, The Eve Appeal, as we Go Red and trek 25km (approx. 15.5 miles) on Saturday 28th September through the stunning Cotswolds to mark the end of Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month.
Every day in the UK 58 women are diagnosed with one of the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal – and 21 will die. That’s 21 mothers, daughters, sisters and partners every day. The Eve Appeal is determined to change these shocking statistics but they need your help.
By taking part in this incredible challenge you can help to raise funds for The Eve Appeal’s ground-breaking research which is focused on developing effective methods of risk prediction, earlier detection and screening for these women-only cancers – whilst also taking in this truly beautiful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the charming villages, stunning countryside and breath-taking views at every step.
Athena Lamnisos, Chief Executive of The Eve Appeal said: “The Go Red Trek is a charity hike that’s both a stretch and a joy. Walking through glorious countryside, sharing stories and raising life-saving funds. It’s a brilliant event to take part in with friends, family and colleagues and also brilliant if you come along on your own. Raising sponsorship when you’re taking on a 25km challenge with a fair few hills along the way is great fun too!”

This trek brings together the charity’s supporters, employees, people who have had cancer and their families, and anyone who likes to take on a new challenge and raise money in the process. The Eve Appeal’s Specialist Gynaecological Cancer Nurse Tracie Miles, who runs our Ask Eve service, will also be taking part this year – so it is the perfect opportunity to walk, talk and learn about gynae health.
Go Red Trek Route
We will meet in the early morning on Saturday 28th September in the beautiful Bourton-on-the-Water, also known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’ – a truly beautiful location to start our challenge. Here you will register, receive your bespoke t-shirt and have an event briefing.
The trek then heads out onto the Monarch’s Way where we will walk alongside the River Windrush, passing Clapton-on-the-Hill and Farmington before reaching Northleach.
After passing through Northleach, we join the Macmillan Way passing through small villages of Hampnett and Turkdean, continuing our trek to the Cold Aston. The final leg of our trek will join the Gloucestershire Way before moving onto the Windrush Way and then heading back into Bourton-on-the-Water for a triumphant finish – where you can enjoy some fizz and a hot snack!
