Back to school, we’re learning about: ‘Building your profile and keeping it there’ | Gender Inclusion Network for Insurance

GIN networking event

The Gender Inclusion Network for Insurance (GIN) invited us to think about how we can position our brands in the best possible way to get noticed and develop your profile at work.

Sponsored by XL Catlin, the event was held at their offices and attended by men and women from across the insurance industry.

The evening was opened up by Maren Burrowes from RSA, co-chair for GIN and the welcome given by Kelly Lyles, Chief Executive, Client and Country Management at XL Catlin. There was an engaging and interactive session from Vanessa Vallely as the keynote speaker on ‘Building your Profile’. Louisa Lombardo from Chubb, also co-chair for GIN closed proceedings for the formal part of the evening.

vanessa GIN network eventAttendees then had the opportunity to meet and network with a host of exhibitors with advice and tips on boosting and maintaining your professional brand, including LinkedIn, House of Colour, Hays, Smart Works, Jennifer Corcoran and Julie Courtney.

“I really enjoyed having the opportunity to speak to so many inspiring and ambitious women at the GIN event. There is clearly a desire amongst the group to improve their profiles. The evening was a great success, Vanessa was a really interesting speaker and the room full of high flying talent… I can’t wait to see what they put on next!” – Lucy Wren, from LinkedIn

The evening has been hailed a success, with some clear takeaways for participants and most excitingly, a total £162.50 raised for the charity Smart Works with a raffle held during the evening. Prizes were kindly provided by exhibitors as well as Beazley, Chubb, Hiscox, RSA, XL Catlin and Zurich.

“I feel priviledged to have been asked to exhibit at the latest GIN event at XL Catlin on the topic of building your brand. My Super Connector is all about helping people to be seen, heard and get their voice in the room and it was an honour to help GIN in any way I could. Thanks for having me and I would like to give a special shoutout to Kim Ford – congrats for organising a top night.  I hope to connect with you all online!” – Jennifer Corcoran, CEO My Super Connector

What is the Gender Inclusion Network?

The network was formed in 2015 to promote and support diversity and inclusivity in our industry – particular from the perspective of gender equality.

We aim to leverage diversity and inclusion to produce tangible business results and drive cultural change both within our respective organisations and across the UK insurance industry.
