Celebrate our Rising Star Awards’ fifth birthday by nominating an amazing woman

RISING-STARS-2019_WEB

WeAreTheCity are proud to announce that nominations for our 2019 Rising Star Awards open on 01 February.

The Rising Star Awards are the first to focus on the achievements of women below Senior Management or Director level – representing the female talent pipeline and the next generation of future leaders.

Alongside our Rising Star categories, we are also calling for nominations for Champions and a Company of the Year. Our Champion award recognises the achievements of five senior individuals, male or female, who are actively supporting the female pipeline outside of their day job. Nominations for this award are individuals who have demonstrated their commitment to gender, eg HeForShe supporters, Network Leaders, Directors, MD’s or C-Suite individuals who are championing women either inside or outside their organisations.

The Company of the Year award recognises the achievements of a company who can clearly demonstrate that they are actively supporting its female talent pipeline through their initiatives, training, development programmes and internal employee relations and diversity network groups.

Launched in 2015, WeAreTheCity set a strategic objective to promote the achievements of 500 women from a multitude of industries in the UK and India by 2018. In 2019, the Rising Star Awards will be celebrating its fifth birthday and this year’s winners will join an alumni of 550 women.

To celebrate the Rising Star Awards’ fifth birthday, our 2019 winners, Rising Star alumni, judges, sponsors and supporters will be invited to a prestigious ceremony, held at Sheraton Grand Hotel, Park Lane, London on 03 July 2019.

The award’s celebration will give guests an opportunity to meet and network with other winners, sponsors and judges; enjoy a three-course meal, wine and champagne reception; and hear from live entertainment and inspiring speakers.

Tickets for this year’s event will be available to purchase from the Rising Star website. We will be announcing when tickets go on sale in due course.

Vanessa-Vallely“I am very excited to launch our 2019 Rising Star Awards and to be once again working with a variety of companies who are actively supporting the gender agenda. With their help over the past five years, we have shone a spotlight on 450 amazing women. I am very proud that this number will rise to 550 in 2019 and am looking forward to welcoming the next cohort of winners to WeAreTheCity’s Rising Star family.”

Rising Star background

Recognising that careers for women may follow different timescales, the Rising Star awards do not have any age restrictions included within the criteria.

WeAreTheCity feels it has a responsibility to ensure that female talent, regardless of age and background, receives the necessary support and skills to transition into leadership positions and key decision-making roles within our organisations.

The nominations process for all categories and our Rising Star Champions and Company of the Year award will open on 01 February 2019. Nominations will take place online via the Rising Stars’ website. For details of the criteria to enter the award, visit here.
