The Single Mums Business Network was founded by award winning single mum and entrepreneur Julie Hawkins to help women gain more exposure to their business for minimal financial
The SMBN is committed to tackling these issues whilst supporting its members to succeed in self-employment. You never know as a woman in business when you will lose the support of a partner and so it is important that your business allows you to cover the cost of living as an independent woman, and joining a business network is the best way to go.
Following sustaining her company against adversity as a single parent Julie knew that it was merely lack of exposure (aka PR budget!) holding her back. Julie created the SMBN to enable women to collaborate, to support business growth.
The SMBN Conference brings together women from all over the UK who are experts in their field and they are coming together on this occassion to help mums who may need a little inspiration and advice to take them to the next level. Whether a seasoned business woman or a new single mum who doesn’t feel like a business woman at all the SMBN conference will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.

Our third annual Talking Taboos event is taking place on the 24th of September. This year our theme is sex education and how to educate the next
This Gynae Cancer Awareness Month, #TeamEve are out to make noise about the need to educate everyone about their bodies. That means sex education – but not just for children and certainly not just at school. We’re here to end the culture of shame and stigma surrounding the vagina and vulva once and for all – starting in the classroom but including your mum, your grandma, your colleague and your friends.
Our Talking Taboos event, of which we have opened up a limited number of extra tickets, is a rare opportunity for thought-leaders, influencers, journalists, educators, campaigners and medical practitioners who are interested in women’s health to get together and discuss the issues so we can go away with improved insight, inspiration and – most importantly – key action points.
Our panel will be kicking off the conversation about sex education for ALL generations, and we will then invite the audience to contribute to the discussion.
