Hi fashion friends,
July has brought some good times and great weather (mostly) so far. It’s been a time of great transition for me recently as I have left my secure job in a big corporate (due to redundancy) and have decided to go full steam ahead with my own small business! It means a lot of hard-work, no days off and dedication if I am going to pull it off as my sole income. At the same time it is rewarding to see that the fruits of my labour are slowly staring to pay off. It was really scary to not have a guaranteed pay cheque coming in at the end of every month, but once I got over that I began to formulate a master plan. I take great inspiration from Vanessa Vallely the founder of WATC – if she can make it then so can I.
The thing about going into business on my own I’ve found so far is that my hours of availability stretch far beyond the normal 9 to 5. I’m taking calls at all hours and also working around my clients own availability. The majority of people work Monday to Friday during the day so I’m meeting them after work to do consultations and even over dinner!
On one such afore mentioned soiree, I wore this beautiful dress floral print dress from River Island and kept it very simple with petrol blue patent heels and my trusty Chanel handbag. It was great to talk to my client about one of my favourite topics (hair extensions) over a relaxed bite to eat. In fact catching up after working hours as opposed to a lunch break is great since there is no pressure to rush off back to the office.
Some of you might be apprehensive of wearing bold florals head to toe, but I would encourage them for a few reasons:
- Floral patterns can be slimming and hide any extra fluffy bits due to the design (tricks the eye)
- They are available in many flattering dress shapes/lengths such as wrap dresses , shift shape and bodycon pencil dresses
- They can take you from day to night – add a cardi or plain blazer to tone down for the office and then simply wear with heels or sparkly flats for the evening.
Ok that’s all folks – enjoy the summer hols and see you on the next blog post!
