Promoting an inclusive organisational culture and inspiring and empowering women in the Naval Service, Royal Naval Reserve and Royal Fleet Auxiliary to achieve their potential and to enjoy fulfilling careers.

The Naval Servicewomen’s Network (NSN) is a professional network for women in the Naval Service, established to improve retention, encourage and enable individuals to achieve their potential and provide an opportunity to gather feedback to make a positive contribution to shape future personnel policy.

Membership is open to all women (officers and ratings) in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines,  Royal Naval Reserve and Royal Fleet Auxiliary. The network aims to deliver benefits to the whole of the NS so many events are open to both men and women with the network acting as a resource for all line managers, career managers and policy staff.

Objectives

  • to provide members with access to positive role models to advise and inspire (male and female, Officer and Rating) to help them realise their potential, whatever that may be
  • to provide an open environment in which to share experiences and information, where all views and opinions are treated with respect
  • to provide a conduit for information to improve members’ understanding about the organisation, terms and conditions of service and the policies which are designed to support retention and to provide a channel for the interests and concerns of women in the Naval Service to be communicated back to policy staff
  • to identify opportunities and resources to invest in individuals and maximise professional and personal development opportunities
  • to encourage inclusive leadership and processes across the organisation
