Empowering Women in Business 2019
Save the date for Empowering Women in Business 2019, an event run by us with the aim of discussing the role of women in the workforce and the issues, challenges and the evolution of business in 2019 in a room of like-minded females has been announced, taking place on November 14th.
This is the second year that the discussions have revolved around the wider world of business and businesswomen across all sectors, rather than solely a franchise industry focus. This year, the key theme revolves around ‘The Changing Culture of Business’, with a particular focus on confidence and visibility. Speakers include prominent businesswomen such as Grace Harding, CEO of South African seafood restaurant chain Ocean Basket as well as keynote speaker Penny Haslam, former BBC business reporter and Panorama presenter, with a key focus on shrugging off ‘imposter syndrome’. Other influential businesswomen speaking complement the event.
Pip Wilkins, CEO of the bfa, who started her franchising journey 20 years ago and became CEO in 2016, stated: “Empowering Women in Business was an initiative I started eight years ago. Initially for women in franchising, I realised so many themes resonated outside of the industry and with business in general, so opened up the discussion to a wider demographic.”
“In the years we have been running the event, working culture has changed so much. In general, I have seen a lot of progress, but there is still a lot to do and misconceptions to dispel.”
The day will consist of a number of speakers giving professional advice, along with workshops and discussion panels.
