It can be difficult to find a balance between meeting the expectations of your role, and enacting your own values at work.
This session will unpack the concept of authenticity, and invite discussion and reflections on the value of authenticity in relation to meaningfulness and wellbeing at work.
Professor Deniz Ucbasaran (WBS) and Dr Isobel O’Neil (Nottingham) will share insights from their research on sustainability-driven (environmental) entrepreneurs who made the transition from employee to business founder.
Their work highlights the trials and tribulations of these individuals who moved from feeling inauthentic – distant from their personal identity and values – to being in a position when they felt authentic as founders. Carried out over four years, their research traces and explains how these individuals worked at, and then achieved, both ‘fitting in’ and ‘standing out’ as credible entrepreneurs.
This interactive session will not only benefit those pursuing entrepreneurial pathways but also to any professional seeking to find that meaningful balance.
