Event Details

The Green Book is the main Treasury guidance for officials and analysts who work on business cases and appraisals.

In October 2020, the Chancellor published a review of the Green Book which recommended changes to better support the Levelling Up programme. In July 2021, supplementary guidance for wellbeing was published to become part of the Green Book methodology.

Pro Bono Economics, the What Works Centre for Wellbeing and State of Life are coming together to create training to implement the recommendations of The Green Book, and the supplementary guidance for wellbeing.

Led by Jon Franklin, Chief Economist at Pro Bono Economics, Nancy Hey, Executive Director at the What Works Centre for Wellbeing, and Iulian Gramatki from State of Life, this workshop series is designed for economists and the aim with the training is to increase awareness, confidence and capability.

In this four-hour workshop will be going through:

  • The Green Book and its role in bringing wellbeing into policymaking
  • The role of wellbeing in business cases and in developing the strategic case
  • How to locate the relevant parts of the guidance for appraisal and evaluation
  • Training and exercises on wellbeing impact measurement and all tools and calculations

When in person, this workshop will take place at Pro Bono Economics, The Factory, 120 London Road, SE1 6LF. There will be ample time to go through the Green Book and take any questions from the audience.

Lunch will be served as part of this training when taking part in-person.
