Fashion is on the move – A boutique in a bus that drives to you to shop!

Boutique Bus

If you’ve had your fill of food trucks and think pop up shop and restaurants are old news, get ready for something even better that combines the best of both. A new roaming retailer aims to start a revolution in convenience shopping by launching a shop that drives to your doorstep!

The brainchild of fashion business owner Lesley Tindle, Bertha is a 26ft ex-community bus that was rescued from retirement. In the last six months she has been painstakingly transformed into a super stylish mini boutique on wheels.

And you can book this shop to come to you!

“A mobile shopping unit like Bertha is the ultimate personal shopping experience” Lesley (56) told us. “There is nothing more personal than being able to book the shop to park up at your home, workplace, street or event so you can hop onboard and shop at your leisure!

Boutique in a bus

Lesley has had a varied and successful career which lately included running a clothing and accessories business. When the lease on her building changed, she decided there had to be a more innovative alternative to the high rent, rates and restrictions of a fixed premises shop. Boutique in a Bus was the result.

Forget your preconceptions about what a bus looks like. This is certainly a bus with the X factor, from her stunning livery and professionally designed shop interiors and lighting, to the unexpectedly wide aisle, a legacy from her previous life transporting wheelchair users.

Even more space is then created for shoppers with her clever computer controlled “electronic pods” – the sides move outwards when she is stationary, moving the shelves and rails outwards too.

Which means there is even more room for the fabulous clothing, bags, accessories and jewellery inside, with 99% priced under £50, making for a guilt free impulse purchase or two!

The future

Lesley certainly isn’t resting on her laurels whilst Bertha is busy attending events and homes all over the South. Her online shop launches in June and she plans to offer a franchise later in 2015.

We’ve learned so much about vehicle refits, branding and choosing stock that really flies off the shelves” Lesley said. “We will be offering advice, consultations and a franchise for would-be fashion business owners. Becoming part of Boutique in a Bus offers great trading opportunities, flexibility and fun, without the stress, costs and lease tie-ins of setting up your own shop.”

Watch this space. There may be Berthas springing up all over Britain before the end of the year! You saw it here first.
