Five Dress Trends

Some of this year’s biggest wedding dress trends are all in the details. Below are five of the year’s hottest trends for bridal fabrics and embellishments:

Black and White

Black and white is a tried-and-true wedding color scheme that has been wildly popular this year. As such, brides are taking the trend to their dresses by adding black details to their white gowns. Black sashes are the most popular way to incorporate the color, but black jewelry, shoes, and hair accessories are also great ways to interject the black and white theme.

Black and White DressLace

Many brides are going for classic, romantic looks this year. Lace has always been a part of bridal fashion, but recently, has become extremely popular with young brides who are looking to add a vintage touch to their wedding day look. Some dresses feature lace from head to toe, while others use the lace as an accent on the skirt or bodice. Either way, lace is appropriate for almost every type of wedding, and always looks lovely.

Lace DressSatin

Satin is a widely-used fabric for wedding gowns, but its especially fitting in winter weddings. The glossiness of satin is luxurious and picks up the light. It looks great on mermaid and peplum style gowns, as it creates a sense of old Hollywood glamour. Add rhinestone or pearl accessories to complete this classic look.

Satin DressEmbellished Sheer Backs

A few years ago, strapless dresses were the standard in bridal fashion. Modern brides are seeking more coverage from their bridal gowns, and have been using sheer fabric as a way to look less exposed. This year, dresses with sheer backs are being embellished with feminine details, such as rhinestones and embroidery. The result is a romantic look that is tasteful, yet not boring. Embellished sheer sleeves and bodices are also very popular.

Embellished Sheer Back DressRhinestone Straps

Some brides are forgoing flashy necklaces and are instead choosing dresses that sparkle on their own. Rhinestone straps are a beautiful addition to almost any gown, and can really spice up a plain dress. Alternatively, a rhinestone belt can be added to a dress to incorporate the sparkle trend, but keep it simple. This year’s rhinestones are understated and sophisticated. If you choose a gown with rhinestone straps, keep your jewelry simple so the dress can be the star.
