Tell us a little bit about a day in your life
I am an Advisor in KPMG’s Shared Services and Outsourcing Advisory practice. I focus and specialise on IT Outsourcing and am very proud to be part of a team that has been recently awarded No1 Outsourcing Advisors globally. I spend most of my time on client sites – currently I am out in Copenhagen advising a client on outsourcing their IT infrastructure.
What did you study or what experience did you obtain in order to get in to your current role?
I studied Business and IT at university. As part of my degree I had to do a summer placement which led me into the banking industry, I then moved from there to IT consulting and worked for a niche software/consulting company which then led to my move to KPMG.
What do you most enjoy about your role?
The variety, every day is different and I will never stop learning!
Can you tell us a little bit about what is great about working at KPMG?
The people. I work with the most talented, hard working group of people who are recognised in the market for being specialists in the outsourcing arena. KPMG also supports in ensuring I am placed on the right projects for me and are focussed on up skilling me continuously.
Do you network either internal or externally?
Both. It is important to network internally to support with my role but also to help others. Externally, we are always out in the market place engaging and speaking with Service Providers and clients alike.
Tell us about your own career aspirations?
Ideally, I would like to own my own business one day but for now I would love to progress in consulting as the experiences and skills gained are invaluable!
What advice would you give to someone wanting a career in your profession?
To be a Management Consultant you need to be focussed, hard working, listen to those around you, take advice from others and most importantly you need to be self aware – use your instincts!
