Tell us a bit about yourself, background and your current role

inspirational-woman-sarah-jonesAfter graduating at the age of 19 from Steiner Beauty School in London, A trained Beauty Therapist spending over 15 years in the wellness and beauty industry with my key approach to all my work being based around the idea of a healthy mind, body and soul starts from within. Coming from a natural spiritual background from a young age I blended my intuition, passion and talent for wellness and beauty by opening 5 wellness spas with a focus on designing my own signature treatments to heal the inner self. I was then awarded entrepreneur of the year and known as a strong figure in my field. My career is not a job it’s a way of life. During this time, I launched my signature “touch” treatment where my whole philosophy can honour the express needs of treatments with integrated emotional, physical and soul awareness. My unique blend and approach promotes cellular respiration and repair, detoxing your system by stimulating blood flow and lymph drainage. Your body feels nourished, increasing your energy, health and wellbeing, resulting in a clarity, vitality and radiance that comes from deep within. TOUCH Therapy is a bespoke treatment in which I see and feel your pain, yet I give a positive message for self-healing and growth. I am delivering a message that has been designed to work on an emotional level and to deal with your inner emotions in a natural way with a philosophy about individuality and accepting who you are but most importantly KEEPING IT REAL. I live and breathe my passion and continue to carry out my Touch Treatment on a regular basis. I also write articles for my blog company Bella J and love being a mum to my daughter Isabella.

Did you ever sit down and plan your career?

I’ve always known the industry I wanted to be in, following my passions and aspiring to be greater than the person I am each day. I believe in your career you have to design a road map and you have to know the destination of where you want to get to. You need to outline the steps you need to take to reach your goals and mapping out a path to your ultimate dream. My career road map has had many paths and I’ve had to read the signpost along the way but the destination has always been the same.

Have you faced any challenges along the way and if so, how did you deal with them?

Of course, life is constantly changing and you have to change and adapt in your business too. My challenge was when I started a family and my marriage broke down. However, much I thought I was super woman I wasn’t and couldn’t juggle 5 spas and being a single mum. I had to go back to my road map and change direction. Analyse my industry and look at my strengths in the niche of the health and wellness industry that can lead me on to my next successful path.

On a typical workday, how does you start your day and how does it end?

I wake up each morning one hour before my family are awake and do tai chi and have a hot lemon water. I then shower and get myself ready before Bella my daughter wakes and the school preparations begin! In the evening I ensure I am planned and organised for the next day and all emails and messages are responded to. I then either read a book or play scrabble with no technology for 2 hours before bed.

Tell us a little bit about your role and how did that come about?

After my amazing journey of owning my spas for 8 years, I sat down and focused on my core strengths in my current life situation. It was actually a good time as ‘holistic’ and wellbeing’ were such buzz words starting to bloom in the beauty industry. I felt the time was right to concentrate and launch my signature treatment ‘Touch Therapy’ and be a leading expert in the natural and holistic field. During my career it gave me the opportunity to build experience, life and knowledge and I felt a new path opening.

Have you ever had a mentor or a sponsor or anyone who has helped your career?

My brother has been my biggest mentor. He is a true entrepreneur in his own right and a fantastic mentor. He taught me so much about business and always been there supporting me through the challenging times and good times.

If you could change one thing for women in the workplace, what would it be?

You can still be committed, focused and successful having a career and also being a mum. There is still so much animosity around this subject and woman having to still prove so much.

If you were to look back in five years, what would you see in terms of your achievements?

I would see myself in 5 years’ times a person who dedicated their time being the best version of themselves and driven by passion strength and determination. Grown immensely in character and hold my head up high being proud of what I’ve achieved.

Tell us about your plans for the future?

I am enjoying building my clientele for my signature treatment and writing many articles for magazine and press. I love contributing to charities with my work and I am designing a range of ‘SJ’ products. It’s a busy and positive future!
