A Harvard student who received internship offers from Apple, Google and Facebook has shared advice for interviews.

Harvard junior Jessica Pointing told Business Insider that “Tell me about yourself” was the most frequently asked question in her interviews.

She was interviewed for, and received offers from Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs and those also mentioned above.

The interviews were all internships within the tech, consulting, and finance sectors.

Pointing runs a website called Optimize Guide, which offers advice to high school and university students, including how to answer ‘Tell me about yourself’.

“You should already know the answer off the top of your head,” Pointing told the business publication.

“It’s your elevator pitch. In addition to that, it’s probably going to be the first question in the interview. First impressions matter.”

Jessica continued to break down the question, and how you should answer. She explained that it’s important to start with a brief introduction that includes your name, your school (or current occupation), and what you’re studying/have studied.

Next, Pointing recommended going into the main achievements from your CV, whichever you’re the most proud of.

Finally, briefly talk about why you want to work for the company and be specific to your skills, the company’s assets and the role you’ve applied for.

“That reminds the interviewer why you are a good candidate for the job, Pointing concluded.
