Introducing Guest Blogger: Kal Di Paola | Fashion Entrepreneur

Tell us about your background? Professional & personal

I’ve always had a love for fashion. It was this love that saw me set up my first business in 1997, fashion label Kal Kaur Rai. Worn by celebrities including Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Cat Deeley and Lisa Snowdon it went on to be sold in over 140 boutiques worldwide and was regularly featured in key fashion magazines and publications. In 2008 I started BuyMyWardrobe, designer fashion recycling events and have just evolved the business to include a central London Boutique and an online marketplace.

What is your proudest achievement?

Nothing can beat the feeling of having a baby which I did 2 years ago and I have a feeling most of “my proudest moments” will now involve milestones in his life!

Who is your female inspiration?

Lots of women inspire me for different reasons. I like to surround myself with strong positive females who are great role models and aren’t afraid to go out and get what they want. I’m inspired as much by a powerful women running her own empire as by a stay at home mum running a household of 4 kids.

Tell us a bit about your business. is a trusted, exclusive online marketplace for fashion savvy individuals to trade high quality pre-owned designer fashion. Seller memberships are given to approved stylish women and are highly sought after. We also run regular events and have a W1 Boutique at Portman Village.

What inspired you to start

In 2008 the country was in recession, the over consumption of the past decade was being highlighted in the media and a new wave of eco-awareness was taking hold. Faced with a wardrobe that would barely close I realised I needed to change my shopping habits and the first step was to clear my wardrobe of years of hoarding. My options to do that were limited. Ebay wasn’t the right place for niche labels and dress agencies were too picky- I wanted somewhere I could set up shop for the day and nobody provided that- so I decided to host my own event.

What would you like to achieve over the next 12 months?

To create an exceptional shopping experience through our exclusive online marketplace, to continue to extend our off line events to different  cities in the uk  and to continue to grow our network of inspiring women.

Kal will be blogging in August
