IT Vacancy of the week: Java/C# Commodity Trading and Risk Developer | Morgan Stanley

Morgan Stanley’s Commodities trading business is a hugely successful franchise with a long history of delivering physical and financial risk management to clients across many commodities, including Oil, Power, Gas, Metals, Investor Products etc. The global Commodities IT group provides the best-in-class software solutions to support this business, across trade execution and capture, market data, risk and PL, physical logistics and middle and back office functionality.
This role is within the London team and the candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in several exciting new technology ventures. There is considerable focus on Electronic Trading initiatives within the group, with opportunities to build out the capability for Commodities, and to interact with systems and teams across FX, Rates and Equity. These initiatives offer the chance to be involved in the increasing “electronification” of trading and to work on revenue-generating systems. Development includes both server side Java, and C#/WPF client work.
Other areas of work include building market analysis and intelligence systems, development within the strategic Risk/PL platform, and moving into next year, renovation of real-time Risk and of trade capture platforms.
The candidate will be a skilled core Java developer, with experience in C# client work using WPF. Hands-on database work is also essential, as well as being able to operate in a Linux/Unix environment. A background in Commodities is useful, or other front-office environment in another asset class. Experience of electronic trading systems would be advantageous.

Skills Required:       
Core Java development.
Linux/Unix platform.
Database development – SQL, schema design, procs, etc.
C# client apps with WPF.

Skills Desired:   
Perl, Python, shell.
