Worldpay are looking for a Head of Cloud Operations to join their team in London.
As part of this team, you will provide technical management and leadership of the Worldpay CloudOps practice and ensure the effective and reliable delivery of all services hosted on AWS and eventually other public cloud service providers. You will be responsible for growing Worldpay capabilities in public Cloud hosted infrastructure and to build assets that can be easily consumed by future new teams.
The practice will be organised into squads who will be responsible for:
• Delivering the Worldpay Online Payments service and automated on-boarding services focused on small to medium sized businesses
• Building and running the technology implementation of the go-forward Worldpay API
• Building and running the new elastically scalable and fault tolerant Gateway
• Delivering the Service oriented Platform
How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?
You will have technical service ownership providing leadership and direction during major incidents and service recovery. You will ensure the availability and reliability of 247 service with 5 9’s uptime, ensuring quality of architecture and design of cloud based services and their continuous improvement to meet availability, security and compliance requirements. Under a DevOps framework, you’ll be working closely with Engineering (Dev/QA) to build a world class engineering pipeline with a high level of automation and continuous delivery. You will make sure that releases are stable, scalable and secure when deployed to live service. And ensure effective monitoring in place for the Production environments; making sure alerting mechanisms are deployed and appropriately assigned to the support model (currently App Dynamics, Splunk, Cloudwatch).
You will be designing and planning a roadmap of Cloud initiatives elsewhere in cooperation with other teams at Worldpay as needed in line with our strategy, and build a community of Cloud Operations Engineering that shares innovation, best practices and continuous improvement opportunities.
As part of the role, you will ensure CloudOps engineers across squads are in the right roles, effective, engaged, have the right workload and can achieve their full potential. You will lead the team through compliance and security audits, manage suppliers both directly and via the Strategic Supplier Management function, and ensure the NPE and Production environments are documented within collaboration tools; collaborating with engineering on design and configuration, ensuring a balance of stability, security and flexibility.
What will make you the ideal candidate?
You will have experience of delivering business critical 24×7 systems to 5 9’s availability, and experience of working in a global online business, ideally providing financial trades or transfers. You will have implemented and managed teams using DevOps approach and have the ability to lead and manage technical teams. A strong technical background with the ability to operate ‘hands on’ is key to the success of this role, as well as extensive experience with AWS management (CloudFormation, EC2, ECS, VPC, RDS, S3, CloudFront, ELB, Lambda, Cloudwatch) IAM, Route53). You will have automated monitoring and alerting experience (including App Dynamics, Splunk, AWS Cloudwatch, Oracle EM), automated deployment experience (including Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus, Maven, Puppet, Ansible) and experience with Restful API’s and SQL.
An understanding of service management processes and experience in setting operational KPI, SLA and NFR’s are important. You will have experience working in both Agile and DevOps environments, so that you are familiar with planning sessions, estimation and ensuring that all DevOps tasks are recorded in the ticketing systems and story walls. Knowledge of security aspects of financial trading/monetary transfer systems (like PCI Compliance, DDOS prevention, IDS) are ideal, as well as knowledge of scalability levers in high volume, low latency transactional systems.
