Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Laila Rouass ‘hid in a freezer’ as the attack on Barcelona took place.
13 people were killed and several injured after a terrorist drove into crowds on Barcelona’s busiest tourist hot-spot Las Ramblas.
The actress, who starred in Holby City and The Royals, was on holiday at the time of the attack, and took to Twitter to recount her ordeal.
“In the middle of the attack,” she wrote just when the incident started.
“Hiding in a restaurant freezer. Happened so fast. Praying for the safety of everyone here.”
Rouass heard gunshots whilst inside a restaurant near Las Ramblas.

Laila Rouass flew out to Barcelona on Monday with her daughter Inez Khan for a holiday.
Rouass hasn’t posted any further updates since Thursday.
She finished fourth on the seventh series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2009 with Anton Du Beke and later appeared Footballer’s Wives and Holby City.
Her final tweet was a message of thanks to the hotel staff who had kept her and other safe:
“Thank you to the staff at the restaurant for staying calm and keeping us safe. I love you Barcelona.”
Police have released a statement explaining that the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils were planning further, bigger attacks than those that were carried out.
Police are seeking Moussa Oukabir, presumed to be 17, suspected of carrying out Thursday’s Barcelona attack.
Catalonia’s Interior Minister Joaquim Forn, quoted by the Associated Press, said:
“We had local police on the scene, but we were unable to shoot him, as the Ramblas were packed with people.”
Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy condemned what the “jihadist attack” in Barcelona.
There will be three days of national mourning and a minute’s silence was held today at noon (10:00 GMT).
