Looking back at 2017: our top career advice articles

change careers

In the third of our installments looking back at 2017, we delve into our favourite and inspiring career advice articles of the year.

WeAreTheCity prides itself on having the answers you need to take the next step in your career. Our careers advice section offers the latest and most relevant tips on networking, legal advice, CV advice, interview advice and much more.

Flexible working

Flexible working has been on the forefront of careers advice in 2017. The days of nine to five working hours may soon be coming to an end.

As workers move towards a healthier work/life balance with a greater focus on family time, more and more people are moving towards flexible working arrangements. You don’t have to be a parent or carer to request flexible working.

You can discover your rights to flexible working here, or find all our flexible working articles here.

Returning to work

Alongside flexible working, returning to work and returnships have also been prominent in 2017.

Whether you are a maternity returner or someone who has taken a career break, there are now a myriad of options which will enable you to return to work. These programmes include training, a chance to refresh skills and meet other women who are in a similar position.

We gave a dedicated page for all of our returnship programmes, flexible working advice and return to work advice.
