Make Time for Tea and help raise funds and awareness of ovarian cancer

ovarian cancerThis March, dust off your cake mixers, hang up the bunting, bake (or fake) your favourite cakes and host your very own tea party in aid of The Eve Appeal for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Whether you host a tea party, hold a bake sale or do something completely different, The Eve Appeal team are here to support you and to provide you with ideas and inspiration throughout your party planning.

Ovarian cancer is the sixth most common cancer amongst women in the UK. Over 7,300 women diagnosed each year and sadly 11 women die every day – The Eve Appeal is determined to change these statistics, but they need your help.

As part of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in March we want to encourage women (and men) to understand the vital signs and symptoms, as early detection is key. A tea party is the perfect opportunity to do just this whilst also raising funds.

ovarian cancerLast year, Make Time for Tea raised an amazing £66,400 and this year we hope to raise even more. Susan Oliver was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2010 and 2012 and wanted to help make a difference: “I love baking and thought I could put that to good use along with help from colleagues who like baking. With support from the whole team we planned a Bake-off style competition with a raffle.

Everyone loved getting involved and baking – no one could resist all the cakes – and it was a great opportunity to support the charity.” Susan has raised almost £500 through Make Time for Tea!
