Miyako, EC2M – Japanese (Nrst Station/Tube Liverpool Street) There’s a new name and some stylish new graphic motifs for this esteemed City Japanese, the most diminutive of the restaurants at the Andaz (née Great Eastern Hotel). Happily, little else has changed under the new regime. Sushi and sashimi are a notch or two above the conveyor-belt chains and include the likes of toro (tuna belly), hamachi (yellowtail), tobiko (flying fish roe) with quail’s egg, a commendably light and crisp prawn tempura and a larger range of hot dishes in the evenings. Desserts are presented with panache and include a good green tea ice-cream served with light, moreish sesame crackers. Lunchtime takeaway trade is brisk. |
