Karine Jackson Hair Salon – By City Guinea Amie Tierney

Natural Hair Care Technology

Monday late afternoon with most of London at the Olympics it seemed I headed over to Karine Jacksons Covent Garden Salon to try and sort out an unruly mop of hair.

Karine originally from Australia opened her salon 9 years ago in the heart of the bustling West End nestled between fabulous book shops and the theatres of Tottenham Court Road. Having started out at her parents Salon back in her Native Australia and who upon arriving in England 13 years ago trained with the legend that is Charles Worthington – I knew my hair was in impeccable hands.

I was slightly apprehensive as I always when trying out a new salon but left my hair in its natural state (fine, flyaway and frizzy) so that Karine could see what she had to work with – my fears were quickly alleviated by Karine who whisked me into the chair and talked through what I wanted doing and what could be expected.

My hair had been coloured previously and the ends were dry which was later rescued by an intensive moisture treatment.

The best part was choosing the colour – which she did by holding up a book of tones from cool to warm under my chin to show what would work best with my skin tone. We decided to go for a vibrant coppery blonde and Diamond Highlights which has Karine up for an imminent award with her colour technique.

Chatting to Karine was as easy as talking to a friend and her know- how and expertise when it came to colour and how to manage my uncontrollable hair clearly shone through. She told me a heart-warming story of how she came to use the OCS Organic Colour Systems in her Salon which involved a client of hers a few years back,  who was going through Chemo & wanted to try something that didn’t have all the harmful chemicals in so Karine did some digging and found out about the OCS.

This definitely appealed to me as I was shocked at all the chemicals most hair colorants use to produce colour – with This  its 100% ammonia-free hair color maintaining the hair’s essential moisture and protein levels, so the hair is not damaged by the coloring process. As the most natural, organic, vegan and cruelty-free line worldwide, this revolutionary hair color minimizes the use of questionable ingredients while maximizing its overall performance. Karine expertly applied the colour and left it to take for about 40 minutes under the heat.(at this point I resembled something from Outta space)

After a trip to the basins with one of the girls, I was treated to a head massage and a nourishing hair treatment and my hair was washed and conditioned with Organic shampoo which smelt amazing.

They offer a wide range of treatment to help your hair such as the

  • Scalp Sensation to cool stressed and aggravated scalps that pollution, busy lives and allergies can cause.
  • The Revamp treatment adds the life back into dry, over-processed hair.
  • Aqua Boost gives your hair the moisture it needs to look shiny and beautiful.

These are just a few on the list.

Back upstairs she took off the split ends and reshaped the layers – I’m growing it out so she only took what was needed. Then came the fun part which was an incredible blow dry with the roots & ends curled with brushes to give it volume and va va voom.

The result…I walked out of there with an amazing colour and cut– Karine and her staff were attentive informative and personable.

Many of their clients work either in the city or are from the realms of Theatre Land but this salon is for anyone that wants to know they are in safe, expert hands.

They specialize in Men’s cuts too as well as gel nails and a plethora of other beauty treatments – this is definitely a salon that will leave you feeling pampered and like a movie star – in my opinion.

Thanks to Karine Jackson and the staff for a wonderful experience – Everyone has commented on the colour especially
