NEW BLOGGER: Afternoon Tea in spring – Lynx In The City

lynxblog-10Hi everyone and welcome to the very first fashion and lifestyle blog post from me. Why did I call this blog “Lynx in the City”?

Because Lynx is a very old nickname of mine given by an old friend (apparently a reference to my feline eye shape) and of course I live in the great city of London! I am a city girl through and through as I grew up here, studied here and finally have built my career here. I love London Town and not leaving anytime soon. Ok now that I’ve finished rambling, let me tell you guys about this blog.

Since I am a working woman in a large corporate, I thought it would be great to showcase my personal style and how I mix high end and high street items effectively. I’ve been dressing like this for years long before anyone knew shops like Primark etc had anything to offer – it’s all about figuring out what suits you and working around those parameters. For example I usually wear a UK size 12 dress (14 on a fat day – lol), but because of my body shape I find off the peg tailored clothes very unflattering; this why you will see me wear a lot of stretch materials rather than stiff separates. That is what works for me for now and I am working it to the best of my ability.

My fashion tip of the week:

If you are not confident about showing your arms, try throwing on a black tailored blazer on top of your fitted dresses. This way you can still look polished without feeling insecure. One of my faves from Zara is here – goes up to size 16/18. This one is a classic and I’ve worn my first one to death so about to invest in a new one!

Ahh the joys of spring! Where are the lambs…?

sushi-lynxThis week I met with a client at the very lovely Park Plaza Riverside hotel on Albert Embankment which is very near to Vauxhall tube station. We ended up at the Chino Latino restaurant within the hotel and decided on afternoon tea (don’t you know) *sips tea with pinky finger stuck out*. Very posh.

Afternoon tea Chino Latino style. This is their modern pan-Asian take on a British classic. So from the top left clockwise; fresh Jasmine Tea in the pot (they have many choices), warm scones, strawberry jam, cream, passion fruit cheesecake with melting middle, petit fours and sushi instead of salmon and cucumber sandwiches. Yummy and delightful.

After tea I decided to grab a taxi to the station and head back to the office. Yes I know I could walk it but look at my heels. Not happening mate.

Decided to actually stop for some photos – since he twisted my arm. Smile and look natural love.

Holding my tummy in firmly after all that tea and cake. Actually very stuffed in this picture.

More pictures Mikey? Really?

Since this is a fashion blog it’s only fair that I give you guys the back view.

Red soles make me smile.  Thanks for stopping by.
