PRECIOUS, the leading network for women of colour, has partnered with Santander to launch a UK-wide survey to understand the challenges and opportunities faced by women of colour in business.
The survey will also explore the motivations for setting up a business as well as reveal some of the female founder stories of women of colour in business through indepth interviews.
The survey’s findings will be used to highlight the support and advice needed to start and grow a successful business.
Foluke Akinlose MBE, founder of PRECIOUS, said, “I am so excited to launch this research in partnership with the Business Breakthrough team at Santander.”
“I am a huge fan of the Breakthrough programme which is passionate about helping women in business succeed.”
“Women of colour are an important part of the UK business landscape yet their needs and motivation are rarely highlighted.”
“Launching the survey is a landmark moment in terms of data and knowledge of this diverse sector of the business community. I look forward to what the results will reveal.”
Louise Robinson, Head of Breakthrough, Santander UK said, “Breakthrough looks to support entrepreneurs and business owners beyond finance.”
“This piece of research is a first for us, and we’re delighted to be joining forces with Foluke and PRECIOUS to undertake it.”
“We first met Foluke in 2016 when she attended a Santander Breakthrough Women in Business event.”
“On hearing her story, and understanding the whole ethos behind PRECIOUS, we really felt the synergies in what we were both trying to achieve – to help women of colour business owners to achieve their aspirations, and to highlight their successes providing a role model for others.”
“This research will enable us to fully understand the support required by businesses led by women of colour.”
The results of the survey will be revealed at an event taking place during International Women’s month.
