Project Vacancy of the week: Business Intelligence Project Manager | Contract

My client, a Global Media / Advertising Company based in Central London are searching for an experienced Project Manager for a Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse programme. This is a contract role paying up to £400/day for 6 months.

The responsibilities include:

  • SDLC Project Management duties
  • Participate in requirements analysis using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Proactively communicate to all stakeholders with up to date relevant information
  • Interpret business issues, opportunities and user requirements and distinguish between the real business needs vs. user desires
  • Capture user requirements using story cards, workflow diagrams & documentation where necessary to ensure that knowledge is retained within the team and organisation
  • Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams
  • Run the project meetings with progress, issues, risks (i.e. daily stand-ups, iteration planning meetings, retrospectives)
  • Ensure a complete and thorough initiation, pre-planning and planning phases are performed for all projects, following company standard processes
  • Monitor progress throughout all phases of a project
  • Perform a formal closeout process at the end of all projects and communicate the results to interested parties
  • Ensure that the end result of a project fulfils the agreed requirements and meets the business needs

The essential skills for the position include:

  • Skilled and “hands-on” Project Manager with experience in the relevant product area.
  • Extensive experience in delivering large Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing projects
  • Extensive experience in managing multiple projects, working closely with development teams, products owners, end users and business stakeholders.
  • Commercial experience of working within an agile or iterative development team for over 2 years
  • Business case and project initiation experience
  • Proven stakeholder management, including senior management/director level engagement
  • Experience working with off-shore or external software development teams
  • Industry recognised Project Management and/or Business Analysis certifications (preferred)
  • The ability to work with and present to senior management
  • Strong planning, problem solving and decision making skills
  • An advanced level of written and oral English
  • Highly developed organisational skills
  • The ability to quickly learn and understand new business environments
  • The ability to achieve high quality results by paying attention to detail
  • A proactive, “can do” attitude
  • The ability to bridge understanding between business and technical staff
  • Excellent time and expectation management skills

Highly desirable skills include:

  • Experience in the media or advertising industries
  • Detailed knowledge of agile or iterative development methodologies
  • Experience working with teams across multiple physical locations
  • Business Analysis skillset – deep experience of agile and traditional business analysis techniques – Business Process modelling, Scenarios, User Stories, Use Cases, etc.
  • Understanding of the issues involved in designing, integrating and implementing data models
  • Possesses a good understanding of technology trends and movements
  • Product Experience: Ab Initio, Microsoft SQL and BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy
