How to Put Gratitude to Work for You Part III

In one of my previous posts in this series I talked about how gratitude is like an energetic lubricant. When it’s genuinely felt and expressed, it is so powerful that it can literally help to manifest the things we want in our lives faster.

If you’ve read the last two blogs in this series, and/or you are beginning to get familiar with the principles of conscious education, you’re now ready for me to share the secret to putting gratitude to work for you to attract positive abundance into your life.

What I’m about to explain to you is what we call at iPEC the D.B.A process. The D.B.A process is, quite simply, the holy grail for creating what you want in your life. If you’re familiar with the Law of Attraction, but have struggled to make it work for you in your life consistently, then you can think of the D.B.A process as providing the missing pages of the elusive manuscript.

True desire is there when you have 100% of your energy engaged toward your goal.

Step One – “Desire”

Early on in our relationship we talked about the notion of “success” and the importance of getting clear on how we each define it. If there’s something that you want to experience in your life, the key is to be absolutely clear and specific about what you want, what a successful outcome means to you, what’s driving you and how much passion you have for it.

It makes sense, right? If you don’t know what you really want, how can you receive it? Would you even know if you did?

What’s key here is to get clear on the feeling behind what that object or person will allow you to experience, as opposed to the object or person itself. This step requires that you are as specific as you can possibly be, so, for example, rather than thinking that you want a better marriage/relationship, if what you really want is to experience and share peace and love with another person, those are the feelings to focus on. If you want better health, ask yourself why. If what you really want is to have more energy and the ability to experience life, then health is really a means, rather than an end in itself.

Note that deserving something does not mean feeling entitled to it, but rather worthy of it.

Another important part of desire is intention – but how do you know if you are desiring something enough? You can think about it this way……imagine putting your head under water and then someone coming along and holding your head down underwater; you are struggling to get up and breathe and you struggle for what feels like an eternity; after a while you finally come bursting out of the water trying to catch your breath……. At that moment, under the water, what did you want more than anything else? When you want something in your life as much as that, THAT is when you will get it.

A lot of people think they want something but they don’t have the intention or engaged energy behind it. True desire is there when you have 100% of your energy engaged toward your goal. If there’s something you want to experience, consider how much energy you have for the task and how strong the energy is that’s behind your desire for it?

Step 2 – Belief

The next step in the process is to truly believe that (a) you can have it and (b) you deserve it.

You can never truly have or do anything unless you feel capable of it and that you deserve it. Note that deserving something does not mean feeling entitled to it, but rather worthy of it. If you don’t feel worthy of something, I encourage you to challenge those beliefs, explore where they come from and consider how well they’re serving you in allowing you to experience what you want.

Step 3 – Acceptance

Now here’s the missing piece of that secret manuscript and where all your gratitude training pays off…..The third step to the D.B.A system is acceptance. Acceptance is where you follow through and live the plan as if it’s already happened.

If there’s one golden nugget, one top tip, one fail-safe practice that will get you what you want, it’s this, express a deep, sincere and heart-felt gratitude for what you want as if it has already been created!!

My favourite prayer is “Thank you for that which has already been created for me.” It’s literally that simple.

Once you accept that you have already received what you’ve created in your mind, the process will be complete. Then it’s about putting yourself on autopilot and simply being in the moment.

Oh, one more thing, you’ll want to make sure that all your language is in present (e.g. “I am” rather than “I will”) and is based on having and receiving.
