Salesforce opens Dragon’s Den style competition offering SMEs chance to win £100,000

Dreampitch

Salesforce is opening a new pitch competition to start-ups in the UK and Ireland, with £100,000 up for grabs.

The Dreampitch competition will give three start-ups the chance to pitch their innovation at World Tour London on May 17th, Salesforce’s annual customer conference, where competitors can showcase their company to thousands of potential partners and investors. The competition first started at Dreamforce in San Francisco in 2016.

A panel of elite business judges will decide who will get the funding from Salesforce Ventures, among which are former Dragon’s Den Dragon James Caan CBE, Jacqueline de Rojas CBE, President of Tech UK, and Dale Murray CBE, former business advisor to David Cameron and co-founder of Omega Logic.

Applications are open to firms that have less than £5 million in total cash funding since they were formed, with more than £100,000 gross revenue on an annual run rate basis. The three finalists will be chosen from the applicants and given a round trip with accommodation for two presenters, along with the opportunity to pitch ─ an appearance that will be streamed to thousands of viewers.

Among the list of companies Salesforce Ventures has invested in since its inception are Datahug, DocuSign, Dropbox and NewVoiceMedia. In total, it has invested in more than 250 enterprise cloud companies in 14 different countries since 2009.

Speaking about the competition, Alex Kayyal, Partner and Head of Europe at Salesforce Ventures said, “At Salesforce, we love seeing startups grow into successful businesses, and we are committed to helping them every step of the way.”

“It’s this passion for innovation and startup success that has fueled Dreampitch, which started at Dreamforce 2016 and is quickly becoming a favourite new tradition.”

“As an early-stage startup, every opportunity to showcase your company to potential customers, partners and investors is invaluable, and this competition is a fantastic way for UK & Ireland entrepreneurs to take their startup to the next level.”
