Senior Appointments: Deputy Regional Head of Audit | Societe Generale

General Inspection and Internal audit teams are part of the Inspection and Audit division (DCPE) of SG Group.

The UK & Middle East Region Internal Audit team is based in London and is headed by the Regional Head of Audit (RHA). The region covers the UK (London and regions), Channel Islands, Gibraltar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ireland.

One Deputy supervises all audit activity within the Corporate & Investment Banking areas, whilst the other supervises audits within the Private Bank (main focus), Equipment Finance, Securities Services and Car Leasing (‘ALD Automotive) businesses.

We are currently searching for a Deputy Regional Head of Audit (Internal Audit) to be based in our London office.

Main Responsibilities

The Deputy RHA will support the RHA proactively on a day to day basis within the regional context of their role, with a focus upon the following six areas:

• Setting of staff objectives and annual performance appraisal,
• Coordination of the Risk Assessment and Audit Plan building process,
• Supervision of Assignments impacting the region,
• Lead assignments directly,
• Contribute to updating audit methodologies, including regional level
• In the absence of the Regional Head of Audit, coordinate the activity of the department.

Degree of Autonomy

• For all other business supervised, the Deputy RHA is generally responsible for day to day activity, but with the RHA in overall control.
• The Deputy RHA will be an approved person and therefore will be accountable to the Regulator. No direct contact with the Regulator should be undertaken without the prior approval of the RHA.

Experience Required

• Knowledge of Private Banking is key to this position
• Background ideally from an Internal Audit function within Private Banking or Investment Management
• Alternatively a Big 4 Accounting firm specialising in Financial Services
• Extensive experience of managing significant numbers of staff

Qualifications Required:

• ACA / ACCA qualified or
• Masters in Finance or Internal Auditing
• Experience and knowledge of private banking products and

processes are more important criteria than the exact qualification of the

successful candidate

Other considerations

• This role will require flexibility to travel to Channel Islands, Gibraltar, UAE, Dublin, UK regions
• Languages: Fluent English with French being an advantage but not necessary
