Sick pay in Europe – how do you fare?

New research compiled by UK company Vouchercloud reveals that the conditions for sick pay vary hugely across Europe, and several countries offer very little, if anything.

From the graphics on this page it is obvious that there is no universal standard for sick leave pay. The data here also shows that some of Europe’s richest countries pay the least in sick leave.

Take a look at the UK for instance, which offers a mere £36 per week, compared to the European average of £245.

Ireland and Finland offer nothing at all for a week of sick pay, whereas at the more generous end of the scale Liechtenstein offers the equivalent of £757.50 and Switzerland £802.47.

Should British workers expect more or is this a fair deal for time away from work? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
