What is the Sky Returner Programme?  

We’re excited to launch our second Sky Returner Programme in partnership with Women Returners, designed to support talented professionals, both men and women, who have taken an extended career break, back into the workplace.

This year’s programme will focus on a number of positions across Sky’s Technology and Product business areas.  Roles are based predominantly in Osterley, West London, and there is also the opportunity to be based in Livingston. A range of flexible working options are available, dependent on the role.

The programme will take the form of a paid six-month placement, commencing in November 2019. At the end of the programme you will be well placed to apply for permanent opportunities with us.

You will be placed on a project or in a team where your skills and experience will be highly valued and utilised. You’ll participate in coaching workshops from Women Returners, and benefit from focused training and mentoring to support your transition back to the workplace.

What are we looking for?

We know that talent extends beyond a professional CV. The Sky Returner Programme offers the opportunity to join a forward-thinking, innovative and inclusive workforce, where flexibility and creativity is encouraged.

The programme is designed for people who have taken a break from their previous careers for two or more years and have experience working within Technology or Product in any of the following positions:

  • Programme / Project Manager
  • Delivery Manager
  • Business Analysis
  • Senior Developer
  • Strategy and Architecture
  • Engineers (Data, DevOps, Network, T&D)
  • Data Scientist
  • Product Lead / Product Owners / Product Managers
  • Cyber Security Specialist

The following gives more details about the areas of Technology & Product at Sky and the key skills we are looking for.

Global OTT Technology – Global OTT Technology develops, delivers and supports the apps and platforms that power NOW TV and Sky’s streaming services across Europe as well as NBCUniversal’s new streaming service for the US market and beyond

UK Tech – UK Tech is responsible for all technology to the UK business, including customer and staff systems, our broadband, fixed telephony, and mobile services, as well as the networks, infrastructure and systems throughout Sky.

Group Product & Digital (GP&D) – GP&D are a multi-discipline, multi-territory team, united by one ambition – to create world-class products our customers will love. If you like research, proposition development, product strategy or are just thinking “what if”, you’ll enjoy this part of what we do.

Cyber Security – Our Cyber Security across the group is one of the Board’s top priorities, focussed on moving Sky to Cyber Resilience where we are prepared for disaster and can recover faster. This means protecting our people, our data and services to our customers.

Data, Technology and Analytics – We have made significant progress in improving our data and decisioning capability and we are now expanding our data office. We are seeking both technical and commercially driven individuals, who have a strong focus on practical & pragmatic use of data and a passion for connecting your work to directly to commercial outcomes, making a real and tangible impact to the business.
