Again, it’s been a while which seems like the story of my life at the moment. In the past month I have moved house and will also be moving on from my current job on to pastures new. Nothing in life is constant except change it seems but in saying that, I believe with change comes opportunity – well at least that mindset helps me to sleep at night!
The summer heat brings lighter clothing and more vibrant colours.
What can I say about the heat we are enjoying in London at the moment?
I won’t complain at all because it means that I can take my laptop out into the garden when I am working from home. This is the best time to take advantage of any flexible working that the company you work for may offer especially during the World Cup. Now that England has crashed out already it means that I can actually enjoy the rest of it without being a bag of nerves.
The summer heat brings lighter clothing and more vibrant colours. Last week I took a stroll down the Embankment wearing a simple black and white colour block midi dress from ASOS which I accessorised with a gold belt, some simple black and white gingham heels and my “holy grail” classic Chanel Maxi flap bag. Like most of my accessories, this bag is again pre-loved which took a lot of the sting out of buying it! In my opinion such classics are once in a lifetime purchases and are worth the money because of the quality – also I will still be able to whip it out even 20 years from now or pass on to a future child.
You can find some excellent bargains on pre-loved luxury items on a websites such as Vestiaire Collective, Malleries, High Fashion Society and even eBay. There’s even Bag, Borrow or Steal where you can loan a luxury item for a short while for those who want the designer look but not the investment.
My fashion tip – invest in a few good quality accessories that will stand the test of time. Even if you have to save up to buy one good handbag in your arsenal, do so for these common sense reasons:
- A decent quality leather item should last a minimum of 5 to 10 years. Think of cost per wear and that will help to figure out the actual value of the item rather than buying a cheaper new one every 6 to 8 months (a false economy in my opinion)
- Your outfit will always look well put together. Even a hoody and trackie bottoms look a whole lot better with a good quality handbag thrown on with it. I rest my case!
That’s all folks! Until next time.
