Healthy EatingMost of us know the importance of being fully prepared to embrace the new “Summer Body” journey… and this journey starts from within.

SO here are some top tips to get your body, mind and soul invigorated, refreshed, reshaped and feeling ALIVE in time for the Summer holidays so that you can be confident and feel body beautiful in no time!

Be kind to yourself. We can be our own worst enemy or critic. Give your body time to change, and accept that lifestyle changes take time.

Nutrition is essential for your dream beach body. I have always maintained that abs are made in the kitchen so make sure you clear your cupboards of naughty treats (biscuits, cakes, chocolates, ice-cream – ANYTHING that will tempt you) – eating clean for a couple of weeks before your holiday will do your body absolute wonders. But stick with it and don’t give up, results don’t happen overnight. What you put into your body today, you will see as results in a couple of weeks.

Go on a 3 day Raw Veg/Fruit Detox – dust that juicer off and get to grip with 5-8 great tasting juices that contain various fruits and vegetables (mostly vegetables. Add fruit for taste) – Juicing allows highly concentrated vitamins, minerals and enzymes to rapidly enter the bloodstream absorbing all of the nutritional benefits of the fruits and vegetables – giving your digestive organs a much-needed rest. Not only will juicing facilitate weight loss, increased energy levels, strengthened immunity, strong bones and a glowing complexion, it may also reduce chances of heart disease, cancer and strokes, three of the leading causes of death. Once the 3 day detox is done, start introducing whole foods into your eating plan sticking to Organic fish, poultry, loads of veg, wholegrains, and stay away from refined carbohydrates, white bread, white potatoes or rice – if you need carbohydrates/starch, stick to 100% rye, brown rice, quinoa, sweet potatoes instead. But avoid starch after 5pm.

Drink plenty of water – at least 2-3 litres a day – as this flushes out toxins, keeps the skin hydrated, and just makes you feel great!

Exfoliating and Body Brushing are essential to get the blood circulating, prevents pores from clogging, removes dead skin cells, prevents wrinkles and importantly giving the skin a soft, shiny glow!

Get the body moving…outdoors. Go for a hike near lakes or the ocean and get moving – whether it be long trail walks, romantic walks along the beach, hiking, cycling, running – Just get out into Nature! Not only is it a spectacular sight to behold Nature coming alive, buds, insects, birds and animals blossoming, but taking in the fresh outdoor air while exercising does wonders for your body, mind and soul! Stay active, and do at least 30mins of activity a day outdoors if you do not have a gym membership.

If motivating yourself on your own is almost impossible – get a Personal Trainer – the best way to get your body in tip top shape is to get yourself into a gym with a good trainer who can coach and train you according to your own abilities and goals. It is always hard to be motivated in a gym if you aren’t sure of how things work, and lets face it – the gym can be a very intimidating place at times!

Be kind to yourself. We can be our own worst enemy or critic. Give your body time to change, and accept that lifestyle changes take time. Stick to your goals, always accept gracefully what you cannot change, and be grateful for the things you are able to change or do. If you are happy with what you put into your body and you are kind to your body, it will repay you.

Get plenty of rest – one of the biggest issues we face with weight gain is due to insufficient sleep. Make sure you get at least 7-8 hours of GOOD sleep a night. Make sure you eat at least 2-3 hours before you turn your lights out.

Last but not least – treat yourself to a hot little number for your Summer holiday. A new outfit always makes you feel amazing. And when you feel amazing, you become EXACTLY that!

Stay active, and do at least 30mins of activity a day outdoors if you do not have a gym membership.
