Tech role of the week: Senior AX Dynamics Functional Consultant | London

The AX Application Consultant will advise and deliver on all business and functional aspects of deploying Microsoft Dynamics AX and its associated technologies. They will work with prospects, clients and team members in the evaluation, project planning and implementation of Dynamics solutions.

They will support internal awareness by evangelising the benefits of Dynamics AX internally to CGI management, sales teams and solution / technical architect communities.
With a strong commercial acumen and a drive to deliver real business benefits, they will be key in driving the pre-sales process including scope definition, solution architecting, estimating, resource planning, proposal development and presentation / demonstration delivery.
On contract award, they will be responsible for translating business requirements into fit-for-purpose Dynamics solutions through the complete project lifecycle. Using either waterfall or agile methods, these projects will be delivered to precise quality standards using appropriate documentation and structured methodologies including Sure Step. Delivering tangible business benefits will be central to all these engagements.
As a senior team member, they’ll also be responsible for advising and supporting general Dynamics capability development. This will include keeping up-to-date with the latest technology and deployment developments together with ensuring knowledge transfer to other team members. They’ll also be responsible for supporting new team member selection, while mentoring and coaching other team members as appropriate.Skills and Experience
The AX Application Consultant should have significant Dynamics AX experience coupled with a good understanding of how Microsoft Dynamics AX solutions can be deployed to deliver effective business solutions. The candidate should have experience of developing and promoting a roadmap for change in an organisation, underpinned by an associated systems deployment.
The successful candidate is likely to be educated to degree level, have business consulting experience with previous relevant experience in industry, pre-sales, project/programme management or consulting roles. They should have an excellent consulting acumen with an ability to develop a “trusted advisor” relationship with clients.
They should have repeated full lifecycle experience implementing significant Dynamics AX solutions to clients of varying scale across a number of sectors and international boundaries.
They should also use their well grounded technical understanding of the Microsoft technology stack and deployment options to advise clients and team members how to leverage Microsoft technologies to deliver optimal solutions.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
The successful candidate must have all or most of the following skills and experience:
o Dynamics AX implementation experience covering several full project life-cycles across numerous sectors.

o Used general business consulting skills to implement Dynamics AX solutions to deliver tangible, sustainable business benefits.

o Pre-sales experience including project scope definition, resource estimating, proposal development, delivering presentations and demonstrations.

o Business analysis and design skills including requirements gathering, business analysis, running process workshops and designing fit-for-purpose solutions using recognized methods.

o Using, and advising on the use of, structured implementation methodologies in both agile and waterfall scenarios including the use of Sure Step.

o Deep understanding of key AX modules including Finance, Projects and Procurement.

o Hands-on experience of designing, configuring and customizing Dynamics AX up to the latest release.

o Experience of leading teams

o Directed and coordinated development teams, preferably including offshore teams.

o Experience of associated technologies including SQL Server Reporting Services

o Good understanding complimentary Microsoft solutions including Office, Exchange, Share Point, BizTalk, BI, etc.

o Understanding of Dynamics AX architecture and deployment options

o Ability to design and specify extensions to Dynamics AX including web components, plug-ins, workflow extensions and integrations with other applications

o Technical understanding sufficient to be able to specify, review and validate modifications

o Currently have, or willing to achieve, latest Microsoft Dynamics AX certifications

o Security cleared to SC level or candidates will need to be eligible and willing to undergo UK security clearance if not already held
