Job Title: Business Control Lead Accountant – Commodities Financial Control

Overview:
Global Financial Services (GFS) is a function within Global Business Services (GBS).
GFS functions include P&L (Profit & Loss), balance sheet substantiation, risk, independent pricing verification and month end processing of transaction feeds into regulatory reporting systems.
Business Control forms the overarching, end-to-end control of the Financial Services functions including Risk and P&L Production, Transaction Accounting and month-end close processes. Business Control roles play a critical part in developing and implementing the strategy to mitigate the financial risk caused by control issues across these functions for a given business.
You will be part of the Birmingham team, reporting into London and will be responsible for the accounting process for a subset of the Global Commodities business. The Commodities Franchise at Deutsche Bank has undergone a period of significant expansion over the last 4 years. It is mandated to continue this expansion by increasing its product scope and geographical footprint.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Financial Services (GFS) is a function within Global Business Services (GBS).
GFS functions include P&L, balance sheet substantiation, risk, independent pricing verification and month end processing of transaction feeds into regulatory reporting systems.
Responsibilities
*Month End Accounting process – reconciliation and substantiation of the Commodities P&L and Balance Sheet;
*Managing the month end PNL process, including submitting any required adjustments;
*Maintaining FX sell off process to manage FX currency exposure for Commodities;
*Complete Transfer pricing (TP) entries between regions and investigating TP breaks between entities;
*Review and investigation of intercompany trade breaks;
*Production of Management Reporting Packs, which evidences how the Balance Sheet was substantiated and highlights to senior management any issues;
*Primary contact for FOBO (Front Office back Office) reconciliation performed offshore; attending weekly control calls and assisting with resolution of breaks as required;
*Ability to identify sub-optimal process and design solutions to mitigate this;
*Investigations following the month end close around unsubstantiated balances or unexpected movements;
*Assist the rest of the team with ad hoc tasks, projects or initiatives including the drive for more automation, control and straight through processing;
You will have:
* A good accounting background
* Experience of balance sheets and their substantiation
* Strong management and communications skills
* Ability to work with all levels of management in a strategic manner
*Strong Microsoft products skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc)
*An interest in financials products e.g. derivatives, bonds and loans
*An analytical mindset and good approach to problem solving.
*Ability to work under pressure, understand complex business specifications as well as data requirements and work to tight deadlines
*Self starter and ability to communicate well across different groups at all levels
*Strong attention to detail and controls focus
*Good approach to problem solving and process focused
*Experience using MS Access Databases.
You will be:
*Degree minimum, ACA, ACCA or CIMA part-qualified or newly qualified.
