About Women of Influence
Cancer Research UK’s Women of Influence campaign supports talented young female researchers in their work to beat cancer by raising funds for their life-saving work. The campaign also brings together a network of influential businesswomen to mentor these exceptional researchers. We recognise the need to fund the most talented scientists – male and female – to keep pushing the boundaries to beat cancer sooner. There aren’t enough women rising to the highest levels in scientific research and we want to support and empower our best female scientists to overcome barriers and become the leaders of the future in beating cancer. The Women of Influence campaign will do this by raising £1 million to support them financially and by providing them with mentors who can help them to overcome challenges and rise to the top of their field.
About Steam & Rye
Steam & Rye is a new one-stop destination venue by London entrepreneur Nick House, co-founder of Mahiki, Whisky Mist and Bodo Schloss. Teaming up with British model and national sweetheart Kelly Brook, they have created a spectacular 550 capacity space harking back to a bygone era, encapsulating America’s Gilded Age, a time of glamour, decadence and idealism in the old bank of New York building in Bank, the heart of the City of London.
‘It was love at first sight when I set eyes upon the old Bank of New York on Leadenhall St and immediately the concept sprung to life in my head. In a few seconds, an amalgamation of movies ranging from ‘Hugo’ to ‘Gangs of New York’ started to take form and I knew then that I had to make Steam & Rye a reality.’ – Nick House
‘I have always been inspired by the glamour and opulence of 1940s Americana, and am thrilled to be collaborating on this project with Nick House. This is my first venture into nightlife hospitality, and we’ve teamed up to deliver something extraordinary – there is nothing like it in London’. – Kelly Brook
