What are you giving up this Lent?

cupcakes for lentToday marks Ash Wednesday, a day of traditional fasting within the Christian faith. It is also the start of Lent, in which many give up a particular vice after the indulgence of Pancake Day.

So what is Lent?

Lent is traditionally the period of self-reflection and discipline. It lasts for 40 days until the beginning of Easter. Lent celebrates the resurrection of Jesus after his death on the cross. Although many do not observe the traditional 40 day fast, people will generally use the time as an opportunity to give up chocolate, alcohol or smoking, amongst others.
