How we’re structured and what we do

Capgemini is made up of Consulting, Technology, Outsourcing and Local Professional Services (this last group uses the Sogeti brand). Consulting Services supports clients through large-scale transformations, enabled by brilliant technology solutions. Technology Services designs, develops and implements a wide range of varied technology projects that involve complex systems integration and IT application development. Outsourcing Services manages our clients’ IT systems and associated business processes. Finally, Sogeti delivers professional technology services tailored to local needs.

What makes Capgemini such a special place to work?

At Capgemini, we genuinely believe that our people are our greatest asset, which means we’ve a very special culture. The importance of our people is echoed in our brand slogan – “People Matter, Results Count”.

When Serge Kampf founded the company, he built it on seven core values – honesty, modesty, boldness, trust, freedom, team spirit and fun – and they remain at the heart of everything we do. Our people live these values every day, in the way that they deal with clients, express themselves, and work together.

We are proud to be a diverse and inclusive organisation, and know this characteristic is essential to our continued success, and that of our clients.

To meet the needs of today’s fast-paced digital world, Capgemini is constantly innovating. In 2016, we launched the Applied Innovation Exchange (AIE) Global Network. The AIE concept focuses on the discovery and application of business innovation, and on exploring emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud, cybersecurity, blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI). We have nine Exchanges around the world, including one in London. Like our Accelerated Solutions Environment (ASE), which helps clients rapidly tackle their most complex challenges, our AIE is a real differentiator for Capgemini.

How do you embrace diversity at Capgemini?

For Capgemini, active inclusion is a mindset. It’s about embracing diversity and planning for the success of all our employees, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability or religion. We are committed to hiring, developing and retaining the best people to deliver innovative, world-class solutions for our clients. We foster an inclusive culture that enables everyone to achieve their full potential and enjoy a fulfilling career with us.

We work with a number of external organisations that promote diversity, including Stonewall, Business in the Community, WISE, Business Disability Forum and Inspiring the Future. We are also proud of our internal employee networks: OUTFront, our network for LGBT+ employees and allies, our Women’s Business Network (see more below!), and CAPture STEM, a graduate-inspired initiative to tackle gender inequality in the workplace.

We believe that all of our employees should enjoy what they do, inside and outside work. Our approach is encapsulated in our Work-Life Harmony policy, which encourages employees to work with their teams and leaders, both formally and informally, to find the best balance for them.

Do you have an internal women’s network at Capgemini?

In the UK we have an active Women’s Business Network that holds events twice a year, and encourages all employees to join sessions where we celebrate the women in our organisation, and those working for our clients and partners. These events take place in some great locations and have featured some truly inspiring speakers.

Please look at our recently launched Women@Capgemini site to learn more about the remarkable women working in our UK organisation.

What can a potential candidate expect during the interviewing process?

Each part of the business looks for a slightly different skill set, but you can get a comprehensive briefing about any vacancy by speaking to one of our recruiters. They’ll provide you with the background information you need for the interview process, and explain what to expect at each stage.

We want to make sure that anyone who applies for a role with us has the opportunity to shine, and so we’re committed to ensuring that our recruitment processes are barrier-free and as inclusive as possible. We make special efforts to accommodate anyone with a disability or long-term health condition. If you would like our information in a different format or need help with any aspect of our recruitment processes, please do let your recruiter know. They will do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and supported.

What do you look for in a potential candidate?

While the skills we look for vary from role to role, some attributes are common to everyone who succeeds at Capgemini. One of our employees talked about our “People Matter” ethos as being “written through the whole organisation like the words in a stick of Blackpool rock”, and she was right. So during the recruitment process, we look for people who have:

  • A collaborative working style
  • Passion, creativity and innovation
  • A client focus
  • Drive and ambition
  • Curiosity and open-mindedness
  • Team spirit
  • A sense of fun
Do you provide training for your staff?

Capgemini is an ideal environment for people with a passion for growth. We’re committed to supporting employees on their learning and development journeys.

Our wide selection of training programmes, tools and resources includes courses, web-based learning and our University Learning Campus at Les Fontaines, near Paris. We partner with some of the best providers of classroom-based training in the business. Development programmes are available for everyone from new graduates to senior leaders.

Tell us a little about your values and how these are evidenced in working practice

When the Capgemini Group was created in 1967, we established seven core values which shape and inspire our culture and business practices to this day: Honesty, Boldness, Trust, Freedom, Team Spirit, Modesty and Fun.

Every team member collectively and individually follows these guiding principles, which are at the heart of our ethical and responsible business approach. Watch our video to find out more.
