The baubles will decorate Christmas trees in all of our refuges to bring some Christmas cheer to women and children escaping domestic violence
Your financial support will help us to keep our life-changing, life-saving domestic violence services open next year.
On Christmas Day and over the Christmas period Refuge will support over 2,000 women and children who are experiencing domestic violence. For most of these women and children, Christmas will be a very challenging time of year. Many will be away from friends and family, spending the day in a refuge.
Yet the women in our refuges also tell us that they are enormously grateful for the safety and support they receive from our team, both emotionally and practically. Many women tell us that, for the first time in a long time, they and their children will have a Christmas free from violence.
Sadly, however, there are many more women and children who need to access our services – our refuges, community programmes and specialist advocates. At Refuge, we believe that every single one of those women and children deserves a Christmas free from fear, but, in these difficult economic times, we desperately need your help to reach them.
Please dig deep and support our services. Please download a bauble, write a message on it and email or post it to us. We will decorate the trees in our refuges with your messages – helping to give thousands of women and children hope and inspiration over the Christmas period.
How your donation can help women and children escaping domestic violence this Christmas:
£5 could pay for a child to benefit from a group support session for 30 mins
£10 could pay for an hour long activity session for a group of children living in a refuge, helping their development and giving the mothers some time to themselves
£15 could allow a woman to buy her child essential materials for school. Many women living in our refuges struggle on low incomes
£35 could enable an independent domestic violence advocate to work with a woman to create a plan to keep her safe
£50 could provide approximately two hours of specialist emotional support for a woman to help overcome the trauma of domestic violence
