Across London, The Clink Charity is creating training and employment opportunities for people in prison and those at risk of entering the justice system.
This is a charity that sits between justice and opportunity. It focuses on practical training, real work environments and long-term change, with a clear link to employment, including through its growing Clink Events catering business across London.
What The Clink Charity does
At its core, The Clink Charity works to reduce reoffending by offering training and rehabilitation to people in prison, alongside support for those at risk of entering the justice system. Training takes place in working environments including a restaurant setting, kitchens and cafés, where skills develop alongside confidence that carries beyond prison walls and into employment.
The approach is built around access to meaningful work and ongoing support as people move forward.
From training to real world experience
The Clink is recognised for its prison-based restaurant at HMP Brixton, where meals are prepared and served by people currently serving sentences. This setting provides a structured environment where individuals gain qualifications and experience in hospitality.
The charity has expanded its work to reflect where opportunities exist beyond prison, building pathways that connect training with employment directly.
Expanding impact through Clink Events
A key part of that work is Clink Events, the charity’s social enterprise catering business, which plays a central role in connecting training with real employment opportunities.

Operating across offices and venues throughout London, Clink Events delivers professional catering while creating opportunities for people to gain experience and move into employment.
Through Catered by Clink, the team provides office-based catering, offering a route into the workplace and a way for organisations to engage with the charity’s work.
Clink Events operates across 27 venues in London, including the Science Museum, Design Museum, St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Guildhall and Royal Museums Greenwich.
Services range from canapé receptions for 250 guests through to weddings, gala dinners and conference catering for over 1,500 guests, supporting clients across charity, livery, finance, education and media.
More than one pathway
The Clink Charity’s work extends beyond hospitality. Training opportunities include a bakery and a youth community café, creating additional routes for people to build skills and confidence.

Therapeutic horticulture projects within prisons form another part of this work, delivering City & Guilds training while supporting wellbeing. Working with nature can help reduce mental health challenges, self-harm and peer aggression, adding a wider impact beyond skills alone. Each setting offers a different environment, supporting individuals as they work towards long-term stability.
Breaking the cycle of reoffending
Reoffending places ongoing pressure on individuals, families and communities. Many people leave prison without a clear path into work. The Clink addresses this by connecting training with employment opportunities and ongoing support. The impact supports families and contributes to stronger communities.
Changing perceptions as well as lives
This work also influences how people in prison are seen. Delivering services within professional environments allows skills and capability to be recognised in a practical way. That visibility can support access to employment and wider acceptance after release.
The Clink Charity continues to develop its work, responding to change while maintaining its focus on rehabilitation and opportunity.
Clink Events and Catered by Clink continue to grow across London, expanding the charity’s presence within workplaces and creating new ways for organisations to connect with the charity and support its work.
The result is a model that brings training and employment closer together, creating opportunities that continue beyond the initial experience.
