WeAreTheCity-Company of the year award - 2015WeAreTheCity received a huge seal of approval from global banking giant RBS, when it was awarded the first Company Award for services to gender.

The Prometheus award is based on the criteria of the company demonstrating female talent development and promotion, actively supporting women in their career aspirations and providing extensive learning programmes to develop true leaders among the female population.

The award ceremony came at the end of the RBS Focused Women Week 2015 conference, organised by Focused Women – RBS internal gender diversity network. The judges were Alison Rose, CEO, RBS Commercial and Private Banking; Roger Fenwick, Regional Director, Commercial and Private Banking and Heather Melville, RBS Director of Strategic Partnerships.

Accepting the award, there was a touch of emotion in Vanessa’s voice as she gave a short speech, thanking RBS for the award and giving a special mention to her husband Stewart Vallely, who built both the UK and India WATC platforms.

Vanessa said: “I am overwhelmed with pride to have won this award, particularly given the strength of the other nominee organisations. WeAreTheCity would not be the success it is without the passion of my entire team. It is our combined vision to ensure we build the best possible platform to empower and inspire women to drive their careers forward. We are all very proud and happy and want to thank RBS for the award, as well as all our clients, contributors and members for supporting us and our vision over the past seven years”.

Caroline Graham, Head of WeAreTheCity India, which launched just over a year ago, said: “We are thrilled to receive recognition from a global organisation like RBS that does so much for female employees through its Focused Women’s network. This award is a thank you to WeAreTheCity’s teams of web editors, committee members, bloggers and supporters who tirelessly support the female agenda both in the UK and India.”
