Natasha Godsiff is a trainee solicitor at Clifford Chance and Founder of Jabalie, a UK charity working internationally with survivors and individuals that are at high risk of gender-based violence.

Founded in 2024, Jabalie is developing an education and empowerment programme for survivors and individuals at high-risk of gender-based violence, piloting in the UK and Kenya. The multi-disciplinary programme covers 5 key areas: understanding gender-based violence; skills development; legal rights; women’s health; and mental health. The aim of the programme is to equip survivors with knowledge, skills and confidence to gain economic independence and break the cycle of abuse. By also targeting individuals at high risk of violence and abuse, particularly women and girls, Jabalie seeks to educate and empower individuals to identify harmful practices and advocate for their own wellbeing.

A passionate advocate for gender equality, Natasha is a UN Women UK Delegate to the 69th Commission on the Status of Women and previously interned with the Office of the Special Coordinator on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse at the United Nations, New York, to improve the UN’s response to sexual exploitation and abuse. Natasha is also an Advisory Member of G100’s Anti-Gender-Based Violence wing, which aims to prevent and eliminate all forms of gender-based violence through providing thought leadership, raising public awareness, widening community participation, and advocating for policy reforms.

In seeking to advocate for human rights globally, Natasha has volunteered with Agatha Amani House in Kenya, a women’s shelter for domestic and sexual violence, and with Mondo Foundation teaching English to school children in rural Nepal. Following this experience, Natasha founded a campaign in 2019 to send children’s books to schools in Nepal. In 2024, the fourth annual shipment of books was sent to Nepal, totalling over 5,000 books being received by the schools. Natasha also completed a Human Rights Internship at the Excellence Centre in Hebron, Palestine, visiting community organisations that promote peace in the region, and teaching English in schools and refugee camps.

Passionate about using the law as a tool to advocate for social change, Natasha’s commitment to social causes began during her time studying Law at the University of Cambridge. As Pro Bono Coordinator for the Cambridge University Law Society, Natasha sought to establish sustainable and impactful pro bono projects, including partnering with Amicus ALJ to research the death penalty in the US and collecting legal textbooks to ship to Ethiopia and Uganda through the International Law Book Facility.

As a trainee solicitor at Clifford Chance, Natasha has continued her commitment to pro bono work to promote access to legal justice, access to education, and sustainable development. Natasha completed a 3-month secondment to the Lifescape Project, working with the legal team on rewilding law and bringing strategic litigation to hold governments and companies to account in relation to their environmental duties. Natasha continues to work with the firm’s affinity networks to promote gender parity and social inclusion at the firm and its wider community.

In 2022, Natasha received the Princess Diana Award, the most prestigious accolade a young person can receive for their humanitarian work.
