The lack of menopause support offered by companies and the recent rejection of menopause protections by the UK government remains a critical barrier to progress for gender equality in the workplace. Our work at INvolve and Audeliss shows that weak policies and insufficient support for menopause is one contributing factor that can impede women’s progression into senior leadership teams and the C-Suite. Proactively implementing robust menopause support policies, regardless of the lack of legal duty to do so, will mean that those who will suffer from the menopause – which for women is currently a third of the population – will be more likely to progress within their career and remain as part of both their current organisation and the workforce at large.
