Department Profile
Corporate and Post-Trade Technology (CPT) is comprised of four client-aligned groups that provide technology solutions for enterprise-wide divisions such as Legal & Compliance, Finance and Firm Risk, as well as the Post-Trade function within the Institutional Securities Division. Each client-aligned group consists of a set of Practice Areas, which provide technology to support a related set of functions. The Post-Trade Technology group develops and supports systems used to automate global operations business processes, such as settlement and book keeping, which occur once a trade is booked and confirmed with the client. Post-Trade Technology consists of three practice area groups: Cross Product Services, Operational Risk & Control and OTC Derivatives.

 

Team Profile
This position reports to the Head of Firm Risk IT Business Analysis and Program Management in New York, and locally to a senior Technology manager.

Under the new Basel regulatory framework, Morgan Stanley established new risk-based methodologies for calculating regulatory capital levels, increased risk governance and provided more comprehensive reporting and disclosure. As a member of the Firm Risk IT project management and business analysis group, this individual will be the technology face-off to Market ad Credit Risk Management in London.

 

This position offers the employee an intellectually stimulating environment interacting with senior risk managers, market risk modelers and IT managers, and offers exposure to a wide variety of financial products.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide London support of the Market and Credit Risk Management Technology platform which calculates risk metrics and regulatory and economic capital
  • Manage interactions with senior internal clients/sponsors, front-office technology teams and the global risk technology team
  • Partner closely with the market risk methodology group to drive London specific requirements and ensure their prioritization within Global IT requirements
  • Work closely with the Portfolio Analysis team to ensure that Stress Testing requirements are appropriately specified and prioritized. Liaise with front office technology on upstream requirements.
  • Manage firm’s infrastructure requirements for the PRA’s Firm Data Submission Framework
  • Coordinate communication with internal and external auditors (regulators) in reviews of the Risk IT platform
  • Manage project lifecycle including creation of business requirements, functional designs, process designs, data flows, prototyping, testing, training and defining support and capacity management procedures
  • Develop project plans that conform to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards, and provide comprehensive status reporting for programs of work
  • Lead User Acceptance testing
Qualifications

Skills Required (essential)

  • Fluency in Microsoft Excel/VBA and familiarity with SQL database queries
  • Experience with market risk management systems
  • Very strong communication and leadership skills
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Engineering or similar.

Travel Requirements

  • 1-2 trips per year to New York and Budapest may be required.
