The Independent, in partnership with Media Planet, today published the first edition of Women in Finance. Contributions from Jo Swinson, Minister for Women and Equalities, Linda Loxley, Owner of WIBN and WIBF President, Sylvani Caloni.
Jo Swinson was asked: Have women made progress in getting to the top of major corporations as directors and non-exec directors in the boardroom? The answer: Yes, but there is still much more work to be done and the government is launching a raft of initiatives to help.
As of the 1 March 2013, the FTSE 100 companies have;
17.3% of all directorships are female
34% of all board appointments are women
94 boards are currently with female representation
A total of 192 female directors hold board positions out of 1,110

Sylvani responds with ‘Ask questions, be bold, and learn how others have succeeded. Invest time to create a strategy for your progression. Seek out endorsers and share your ambitions with your bosses.’
