Applications for the prestigious Leaders Plus Fellowship are now open.
This award winning programme aimed at parents with young children supports ambitious individuals to continue progress their careers whist enjoying their young families. Babies are welcome at all events to make the Fellowship accessible during parental leave.
The Fellowship combines inspirational events with a senior leader mentor, career acceleration support and maternity/paternity support interventions such as a session with a sleep consultant. The programme is open to all genders.
The programme will kick off with an event in the House of Commons, where senior panellists will share their honest stories of combining high powered leadership careers with looking after young children. The event is hosted by Tulip Siddiq MP, speakers include Dame Helena Morrissey (LGIM) and Will McDonald (Director at Aviva and Chair of the Fatherhood Institute).
The Fellowship was launched in 2018 by the Social Enterprise Leaders Plus. In its first year, Leaders Plus won Nesta’s and the Observer’s 50 New Radicals award and the founder was selected as one of WeAreTheCity’s Rising Stars for her work in setting up Leaders Plus.
Applications for this programme were heavily oversubscribed in its inaugural year, with more than 4 applications per place. Last year, Fellows have come from a range of sectors including organisations such as HSBC, the NHS, London councils as well as charities such as the Salvation Army and small social enterprises such as Action Tutoring.
Tulip Siddiq MP, patron of Leaders Plus, said, “Gender equality has featured heavily in the news recently, but it can only be achieved if we sort out the issue of so many women (and indeed some men with caring responsibilities) dropping off the leadership pipeline after having children.”
Verena Hefti, CEO and Founder of Leaders Plus, said, “We want to build a positive movement of leaders with young children who not only accelerate their own careers but also help change the system so that in the future no parent feels forced to choose between caring for their children and continuing to progress their careers.”
