PRIDE MONTH

June marks Pride month, a month dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ communities all around the world.

In the US and around the globe, the month commemorates the Stonewall Uprising in June 1969 in New York City, which helped spark the modern gay rights movement.

The Stonewall Uprising began as a series of violent confrontations between police and gay rights activists outside the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. You can find out more about the uprising here.

Since then, the LGBTQ+ movement has grown, with countries around the world holding Pride celebrations to showcase love, friendship, gay rights and to teach tolerance and equality.

At WeAreTheCity, we believe in equality for all and will continue to help increase representation of the LGBTQ+ community and share a variety of voices and opinions – and never has it been more important.

Below you will find interviews with some amazing women and men; events and networking groups across a variety of industries; and resources designed to educate and understand.

Over the month and beyond, we will also be showcasing events, covering news and continuing to shine a spotlight on issues of sexuality, equality and diversity.
